Granny Square Pattern
Materials
- 3 Colors worsted weight yarn (I used yellow, white and green)
- 5mm crochet hook
- Tapestry needle
- Scissors
Round 1: In magic loop, ch1 (this doesn’t count as a stitch), make 8 single crochets, join round with 1st sc using slip stitch
Round 2: chain 2, 2 sc into first stitch, 1 sc in next stitch. Repeat from *
(12 stitch)
Cut yarn, fasten off.
Attach second color
Round 3: First petal (different than following petals)
Chain 3, *YO, insert hook into stitch, draw up a loop, YO, Pull through 1st two loops on hook; repeat from * once more in the same stitch. YO, pull through all 3 loops on hook. Chain 2.
In the next stitch: *YO, insert hook into stitch, draw up a loop, YO, pull through 1st two loops on hook; repeat from * 2 more times into the same stitch. YO, pull through all 4 loops on hook. Chain 2.
Repeat until you have 12 petals.
Join with 1st petal of the round with a slip stitch (into the top chain of the initial chain 3 section)
Cut yarn and fasten off.
Round 4: In any chain space, attach new color and chain 5 (counts as dc and ch2, make 3 dc in same space, make 3 hdc in next ch space, make 3 hdc in next ch space, *(make 3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch sp, make 3 hdc in next ch sp, make 3 hdc in next ch sp * 2 more times; make 2 dc in 1st corner stitch, join round using slip stitch into the 3rd ch of the starting ch, sl st into ch sp.
Round 5: Chain 2, 1 sc, chain 2, 2 sc in the same ch space. single crochet 11 stitches across the side of the square. single crochet 2 into corner ch sp, chain 2, sc 2 into same corner ch sp. Repeat this until all sides are completed
